Name Description
JPCSP JPCSP is an open-source PlayStation Portable emulator written in Java. It requires Java Runtime environment to be installed, which has a history of security issues. Because it uses Java, it is also much slower than PPSSPP. It is recommended to use PPSSPP instead, and only to use JPCSP if a game does not work. Development of PPSSPP is rapid, and it will soon overtake JPCSP in terms of game compatibility.

The developers of JPCSP never intended for it to become a standard emulator. It was created to better understand the PSP's inner workings. Thanks to the JPCSP team, PPSSPP is developing quickly. Both teams communicate and contribute with each other.
PCSP A PSP emulator in C++. Currently some games seem to be playable, and it even breaks the encryption for you! May well be worth a try.
Potemkin The second PSP emulator released. Potemkin (codename DaSH) is an experimental HLE PSP Emulator. It is created and released by ector under the GPL license. It is able to run some games. Its development is currently inactive. Last release: 2007-05-06
PSPE The first PSP emulator released. It doesn't run commercial games yet, but it is still in development.
Last release: 2005-06-04
