America is dying. I called this a year ago, and now the President has suspended habeus corpus for anyone he deems to be an "enemy combatant". Even US citizens.

I began preparing for emigration several months ago.... And unless Democrats win congress I will be leaving the US ASAP and revoke my american citizenship.

This country is heading down a very dark road.

This is a dangerous attitude to have though. The forseeable future may look fine for you, but what about everyone else you know and care about?

Sort of reminds me of Niemoller's poem:

If/when the government finally decides to turn on you (for reasons we cannot yet discern) you'll have no ground to stand on, for everything will have already been eroded from under your feet.

I'm not so sure about that. The new law isn't the least bit Constitutional. When it actually gets challenged, it'll never hold up agains thte Supreme Court. It's simply another one of the tricks politicians are using to convince people they are being kept safe in an effort to hold onto their seats, much like the recent attempted bans on gay marriage.

So does Norway, but I don't think there's a distinct lack of people fleeing here to say the least.
While the leaders are christian-like and overprotective, I really do love living here, fantastic place to raise children of my own when that time comes.

That's pretty freaking sweet. I might consider moving there some day, provided I can learn Norwegian; I've heard good things about the place -- except that the job market sucks for incoming foreigners unless you know somebody.

Well, getting a job isn't that hard, I don't think it's that different if you're a foreigner, though of course if you don't speak Norwegian that's a bump in the road in most professions.
Still, the absolute majority understands English, so...

And yes, I would definitely recommend moving to Norway, I think most Norwegians take for granted how lucky we truly are. ;)
