Warnings & Gotchas

Sound Support Option

Some Apple IIGS software, including portions of GS/OS, rely on sound interrupts in order to function correctly. Turning off sound support in Sweet16 disables sound interrupts, so this software may no longer work correctly. As a general rule, you should leave sound support enabled at all times. Instead of disabling the sound support, just use the BeOS Media preferences application to mute or adjust the volume of the sound:

Audio mixer settings

You can see "Sweet16 Audio" listed here. Just click the Mute checkbox to turn off Sweet16's sound. Or you could even use the IIGS Control Panel to disable the sound. Whatever floats your boat.

No Sound Card

The same problem occurs if you don't have a supported sound card in your BeOS system. Check the Be web site for information on BeOS compatible hardware.

Don't Run Partitioning Utilities

When Sweet16 opens a partition on a disk, it thinks that partition is a complete drive. Don't try to run Advanced Disk Utilities (or any other partitioning tool), because it'll try to partition just the partition you mounted, resulting in utter chaos, and probably in the entire drive becoming unusable. Use DriveSetup to repartition the disk, or use a real IIGS.

RamFAST Partitions Don't Work

Because RamFAST doesn't use standard Apple partitions (like both the Macintosh and Apple High-Speed SCSI card do, and like BeOS expects), you can't use drives formatted on a RamFAST. If you want to use a hard disk from your Apple IIGS, get an Apple High-Speed SCSI card.
