MESSfront from mrgsoft

16 January 2000, v0.1.0 for MESS v0.36 and later.

Fixed the ShowInTaskbar bug... Sorry not to fix it before, but maybe someone could send me bug reports from time to time. :(
Er... Well, some cosmetic changes, I like those :)
I surely fixed another thing or two but can't remember and probably weren't that annoying.

A little speech now:
Send bug reports to authors of repeatable errors only, and please try to see if it doesn't come from you. I can't count how many times I had to help people to install VB runtimes.
THIS IS NOT OUR JOB!
Please, try to be smart or contact friends first, then people who like to help.
There are IRC channels full of good souls out there.
Also to people with bad english, a good thing is to write your messages and questions in both english AND your native language. Some people may understand more than one language, maybe even yours. There are translators too, both online and offline, sure they're not the best thing but they can help.

These were my two cents at building a better and friendlier world! :)

14 January 2000, alpha6 for MESS v0.36b14.

The archive have been updated with a .cpu file, blah blah.
Nothing else has been modified/added, blah blah.

Well, no! Not this time :)

No more .cpu, now it is a .sys file that is the result of a -listfull.
MESSfront has been modified to support this change, also now looks into the ROMS dir
instead of IMAGES to suits recent changes in default dir MESS uses.

Note: MESSfront status has not been decided yet.
It seems nobody puts time into making another frontend, so I guess I'll *have* to
update mine :)

Ok, MESS was dormant for a year, MESSfront was too...
MESS evoluted during this time, MESSfront didn't... :)

Well, sorry but I haven't got a clue a new MESS would appear for real
until now... A new MESS is actually released.

So did a MESSfront Alpha4 repackaged with an alternative .cpu file.
It wasn't a big deal, after all if I did put those commands in a file it was for
people who wanted to customize it a bit to do so. But I wish original .htm wasn't
deleted and a better disclaimer about the new unofficial .cpu!

Anyway, I said it... Wasn't much a big deal, too bad emu news sites did put credits
on Geoff Trowbridge (who did a nice job at modifying the .cpu file by the way) and
forget about me :/

I had to mail a bit some ppl, and I saw apologies there and there :)
Ok, now all that crap is fixed...

Oh, ya!

That is a quick hack over Alpha4 with a request or two and getting rid of the options
that would cause problems if used with MESS 0.36b6... This is due to MESS getting
improved a lot and therefore, changing a lot of commands.

One of the requests was to quote the rom or disk image filename, so that lfn could be used.
This was easy to add, so I've done it!

Er... Maybe it's me but I couldn't get zipped files to run, either 8+3 or lfn's.
I did it right methinks though...

Ok, 2.36am, I have now spent more time on this text than on updating MESSfront, so
I think I'll stop here and let you play a little bit. :)

PS: No, I dunno when or if I will continue this frontend...
If I do continue MESSfront, it would be either included in MAMEfront (WIP, but there are
versions of it on my website) or redo based on MAMEfront...
