Introduction

Hi again, Iīm back with new stuff about states and their use. When I was making our latest Save State Editor I found some interesting properties about states that you may want to know about. For now I have just a bit of info but Iīm still hacking/testing/wrecking states to see what can be done.

How to use your Zsnes States with Snes9x?

Thatīs quite a question... Well  it (perhaps) is the easiest operation in the world. After a few days of analyzing Snes9x decompressed states (use Snes9x Tool) I realized that half of the file was nothing but chunks of bytes that doesnīt have to be with the memory dump. So I tried the most simple method.... Load a ZST file into my Snes9x running game. Well it worked!

h.bmp (56682 bytes)

I wouldnīt fake a picture just to lie to you :) thatīs real and it worked! Pretty interesting, isnīt it? Below are the steps to follow:

Steps to use the State

  1. Save your Zsnes state. Be sure that the savestate has the SAME name as the rom (not extension) for example: FF2.smc - FF2.zst - Got it?
  2. Open Snes9x and load your ROM
  3. Press F1 and thatīs it

IMPORTANT NOTE: Well, well...... I guess I discovered the Hot Water. You can find this information in the SNES9x Readme file........ Thanks to Easy for the correction. Sorry is just that Iīm not used to reading large readme files :P Thanks to Gary Henderson and Jerremy Koot for their effort to make the compatibility between the 2 best snes emulators a reality.
